What Will We Do For Fun?

I have been asked what mu children will do for fun since we will no longer have tv or computer (for awhile at least and then it will run only 1 hour a day for work, not fun)

Well, a dear friend gifted us with several puzzles and those are first on the list to play with.

The kids can ride bikes on the verrry looong stretch of dirt road out there.

There are an abundance of trees to climb.

We have 18 pets already and plan to get more so they have built in "friends" to chase and be chased by lol

Board games are a big fav of ours already and will continue to be.

We own nearly every art product out there (i should take stock in crayola!)

Art kits are on the list to buy.

My girls weave, sew, and knit so they still have that.

School will take up a few hours each day ;)

Reading of course!

Legos, dolls, Lincoln logs and more are in our stash. Oh and matchbox cars galore!

A plastic rubermaid tub makes a great toy also. And we will have many many of those!

That's just a few things I can think of. I am typing on borrowed time since my internet goes out nonstop and I can't access it very well. I get on when I can!

Ahh... This modern, new, question, what do your kids do for fun. I would have to say that they can do what children have been doing before the invention of TV and computers... They WORK and PLAY :) Glad to see you realize that too!

Ya know, people fail to recall we have been around for over 6000 years, and TV only since the 50's....

I'd add to that list: (but you probably already have them) a kickball, ball and bat, jump rope, and the kids may enjoy each having their own small garden plot to plant their favorites in and take care of.

Older ones might enjoy building a crystal radio, making a tree house, tire swing...

When mine were little I kept a rainy day box in the camper. In it we had several card camps (fish, old maid, bingo...)coloring books, puzzles, word searches, potholder loom and loops, and items for the girls to make jewelry with. All were small items that didn't take up much room to store, and didn't take up much room in the camper to do. Every vacation we had at least one rainy day and got the box out.

Our children really laugh when someone mentions not having anything to do without TV. They can't imagine having time to sit and watch one even if they had one. Life on a little off-grid homestead is so busy and there are always projects of some kind. You're about to experience it too...can't wait to hear about it! :)

Kids are very inventive if they need to be about entertaining themselves and are much better off doing so! Mine have no trouble and will happily go hours without saying "Momma, I'm bored!" It's such a blessing to be out in the country. Praying for you all.
