Dr. George Tiller, one of the nation's few providers of late-term abortions despite decades of protests and attacks, was shot and killed Sunday in a church where he was serving as an usher.
There was no immediate word of the motive Tiller's assailant. But the doctor's violent death was the latest in a string of shootings and bombings over two decades directed against abortion clinics, doctors and staff.

Long a focus of national anti-abortion groups, including a summer-long protest in 1991, Tiller was shot in the foyer of Reformation Lutheran Church, Stolz said. Tiller's attorney, Dan Monnat, said Tiller's wife, Jeanne, was in the choir at the time.
The slaying of the 67-year-old doctor is "an unspeakable tragedy," his widow, four children and 10 grandchildren said in statement. "This is particularly heart-wrenching because George was shot down in his house of worship, a place of peace." tami- where was the peace for the children he murdered when the mom was 8 months along?!!!!!!!

The family said its loss "is also a loss for the city of Wichita and women across America. George dedicated his life to providing women with high-quality health care despite frequent threats and violence." tami- murder is called healthcare?!!!!

Tiller's Women's Health Care Services clinic is one of just three in the nation where abortions are performed after the 21st week of pregnancy. The clinic was heavily fortified and Tiller often traveled with a bodyguard, but Stolz said there was no indication of security at the church Sunday.

President Barack Obama said he was "shocked and outraged" by the murder. "However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence," he said. tami- i call abortion a heinous act of violence. research what is involved in a late term abortion. i won't say it here.

"I am stunned by this lawless and violent act, which must be condemned and should be met with the full force of law," Kline said in a statement. "We join in lifting prayer that God's grace and presence rest with Dr. Tiller's family and friends."

tami- abortion is a lawless and violent act and HOW DARE YOU ASK GOD'S GRACE TO BE ON THIS FAMILY FOR THIS? THEY SHOULD BE ON THEIR KNEES ASKING FORGIVENESS AND ASKING FOR GRACE SINCE THEY ARE MURDERERS!!!!!

i love this roaster cuz i have a family of 9 and boy can they eat. a regular crockpot ain't gonna cut it!
i can bake chicken in it easily- i just lay all the pieces in and turn it on. or i can make a casserole. i just throw everything in it and turn it on. or i can bake 3 loaves of bread in it. i just place the loaf pans in it and turn it on. get the theme? put it in and turn it on. it will bake. :)

it can even cook a turkey!! or a pie. it is an oven. or a crockpot. use it as either!
I love my General Electric Roaster Oven and Buffet Server.

Aside from benchmarking America's education standards internationally, Obama's plan to track students from preschool through college presents a very real problem to parents, especially homeschooling parents.

In order to qualify for Obama's stimulus money, every state must develop "data infrastructure" mechanisms to track students' education from cradle to college. In his testimony before Congress, Sec. of Ed. Arne Duncan, said

"...states must build data systems that can track student performance from one year to the next, from one school to another, so that those students and their parents know when they are making progress and when they need extra attention. This information must also be put in the hands of educators so they can use it to improve instruction."

This all sounds so noble and good. Who doesn't want to "improve instruction?" But do we really need a federally mandated database to help parents know when their student is making progress?

Simply put, a tracking database isn't for the benefit of the student or their parents. It is for the benefit of the government. Children are a pool of labor to be sorted and trained for the masters use. This is nothing but social engineering to transform our economy and our nation. Students who are not educated in a public school and thus outside the tracking system will likely be considered drop-outs or non compliant, unless they can figure out a way to force them into the tracking system. After all, Obama's commited to making sure that no child is "crippled in the competition for jobs" in the global economy.

And just where do you think this leaves homeschoolers?

A San Diego pastor and his wife claim they were interrogated by a county official and warned they will face escalating fines if they continue to hold Bible studies in their home.

The couple, whose names are being withheld until a demand letter can be filed on their behalf, told their attorney a county government employee knocked on their door on Good Friday, asking a litany of questions about their Tuesday night Bible studies, which are attended by approximately 15 people.

"Do you have a regular weekly meeting in your home? Do you sing? Do you say 'amen'?" the official reportedly asked. "Do you say, 'Praise the Lord'?"

The pastor's wife answered yes.

She says she was then told, however, that she must stop holding "religious assemblies" until she and her husband obtain a Major Use Permit from the county, a permit that often involves traffic and environmental studies, compliance with parking and sidewalk regulations and costs that top tens of thousands of dollars.

And if they fail to pay for the MUP, the county official reportedly warned, the couple will be charged escalating fines beginning at $100, then $200, $500, $1000, "and then it will get ugly."

Dean Broyles of the Western Center for Law & Policy, which has been retained to represent the couple, told WND the county's action not only violates religious land-use laws but also assaults both the First Amendment's freedom of assembly and freedom of religion.

"The First Amendment, in part, reads, 'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,'" Broyles said. "And that's the key part: 'prohibiting the free exercise.' We believe this is a substantial government burden on the free exercise of religion."

He continued, "If one's home is one's castle, certainly you would the think the free exercise of religion, of all places, could occur in the home."
Broyles confirmed the county official followed through on his threat. The pastor and his wife received a written warning ordering the couple to "cease/stop religious assembly on parcel or obtain a major use permit."

"The Western Center for Law and Policy is troubled by this draconian move to suppress home Bible studies," said the law center in a statement. "If the current trends in our nation continue, churches may be forced underground. If that happens, believers will once again be forced to meet in homes. If homes are already closed by the government to assembly and worship, where then will Christians meet?"

On a personal note, Broyles added, "I've been leading Bible studies in my home for 13 years in San Diego County, and I personally believe that home fellowship Bible studies are the past and future of the church. … If you look at China, the church grew from home Bible studies. I'm deeply concerned that if in the U.S. we are not able to meet in our homes and freely practice our religion, then we may be worse off than China."

Broyles also explained to WND that oppressive governments, such as communist China or Nazi Germany, worked to repress home fellowships, labeling them the "underground church" or "subversive groups," legally compelling Christians to meet only in sanctioned, government-controlled "official" churches.

"Therein lies my concern," Broyles said. "If people can't practice their religious beliefs in the privacy of their own homes with a few of their friends, that's an egregious First Amendment violation."

WND contacted a spokeswoman for San Diego County, who acknowledged the description of the incident seemed "bizarre," but who was unable to locate the details of the account. She simply could not provide comment yet, she said, until she could become familiar with the case.

Broyles said the WCLP is nearly ready to file a demand letter with the county to release the pastor and his wife from the requirement to obtain the expensive permit. If the county refuses, Broyles said, the WCLP will consider a lawsuit in federal court.

Broyles also told WND the pastor and his wife are continuing to hold the Bible study in their home.

I have one in the stroller, one next to the couch, one open at the washing machine and one at the kitchen sink. Say, “Speak Lord” as you read two verses at the washing machine, swallow that as you fold the clothes, and grab a few more as you cook lunch, or do the night dishes. With several ‘cheap’ Bibles around, you will have a ‘wealth’ of daily relationship, unmatched by any experience you’ve had yet! Adam and Eve “walked and talked” with God. If it was all right for Adam and Eve to do two things at once, then it’s all right for me.

i have been on fire with the Lord today!! after speaking to my friend angela , and knowing she was praying for me- as i know the bloggers i count on to be my prayer warriors(sandra, beth, pia)(bet you gals didn't know how much i depend on you!) are always doing- i was able to search the scriptures and cry out to God and receive real answers

i have so much to share. maybe the things i copy and paste or write about in my own hand won't mean much to you but they might to someone!

The fact that most modern Bible versions are copyrighted seems to be a small point at first. However, in order to copyright someone else's writings, a person has to make a significant amount of changes in the other person's document, so that they can call it their own and qualify for copyright protection. The 2005 Encarta Encyclopedia says this about the requirements for a document to be copyrighted: "To qualify for copyright protection, a work must be both fixed and original. The law considers a work to be fixed if it is recorded in some permanent format. Acceptable ways of fixing a work include writing it down, storing it on a computer floppy disk, recording it on videotape, or sculpting it in marble. If a poet thinks of a new poem and recites it to an audience before writing it down, copyright does not protect the poem because it is not fixed. To be original, the work must not be copied from previously existing material and must display at least a reasonable amount of creativity." Now if a new translation is copyrighted, that means it is an original document of the "translators" and displays a reasonable amount of creativity of the "translators". Be careful in using a copyrighted Bible. You might be following an original document of men that is based on the Word of God but which has added to or removed words from the Word of God. At the same time this is not to say that a version that is not copyrighted has not tampered with the Words of God.

Another problem with a copyrighted Bible is that most of the copyrighted translations prohibit the use of their translation where the quoted verses account for more than 50% of the total work in which they are quoted. You also may not quote more than 1000 verses. That would significantly limit the Bible studies we are able to make available on this website and the resources people could copy from the website for Bible studies in their home or house church. For example, "The Commands of God in the New Testament" resource is made up almost entirely of Scripture verses and quotes over 1000 verses and could not be published on this website if it was in a copyrighted translation. Copyrighted translations also prohibit the copying of an entire Book of the Bible, such as the Gospel of John, even for free distribution! The NIV requires a $10,000 licensing fee plus a royalty of $10 for every copy that is made of the NIV! That is making merchandise of the Word of God and it is wrong!

How can we have unity of belief in the Church when Christians are using different, legally original copyrighted works by different authors and calling them all "the Bible"? The phrases "I believe the Bible" or "a Bible believing church" have become technically meaningless statements because of the wide scope of different English Bibles available and the wide range of interpretations and applications that those different versions allow.

The Church needs one foundation document to stand on that we know for certainty is Truth and is the Word of God. The Bible, and the translation we use, really is one of the most significant subjects that the Church faces today.

Both the husband and wife can't wear the pants in the home if they are to be one as God designed. A home that is described as one where the woman wears the pants, is often used figuratively of a wife who bosses her husband and calls the shots. It does not describe a home where the husband and wife are one. The woman's liberation movement popularized women wearing pants like men. The wearing of men's style of clothing is more than symbolic. It also affects the home and the unity of the husband and wife. That is why God states so clearly in Deuteronomy 22:5 that a woman is not to wear man's style clothing. "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God." If you do not believe that women wearing pants and the mindset that goes along with it is affecting the home and the divorce rate, all you have to do is observe for yourself the churches where women wear pants. Ground Beef Recall: Nearly 100,000 Lbs of Hamburger Patties May Be Contaminated with E. coli
Before you grill those Memorial Day hamburgers, check this ground beef patty recall list.

Valley Meats of Coal Valley, Ill., is recalling approximately 95,898 pounds of ground beef patties and sirloin steak burgers sold under the Grillmaster and 3S brands, because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and in the most severe cases, kidney failure. The very young, seniors and persons with weak immune systems are the most susceptible to foodborne illness. Anyone with signs or symptoms of foodborne illness should consult a medical professional.

The ground beef patties and sirloin steak burgers subject to recall include two brands, 3S and Grillmaster:
3S Ground Beef Patties and Sirloin Steak Burgers

* 10-pound cases containing a total of 40 (4-1) “KEEP FROZEN 3/S 100% GROUND BEEF PATTY.” Each package bears the identifying case code “95554.”
* 10-pound cases containing a total of 60 (6-1) “KEEP FROZEN 3/S 100% GROUND BEEF PATTY.” Each package bears the identifying case code “95556.”
* 10-pound cases containing a total of 30 (3-1) “KEEP FROZEN 3/S CHOPPED BEEF SIRLOIN STEAK BURGER.” Each package bears the identifying case code “95573.”

Preparing Ground Beef for Safe Consumption

Although these products are not available at retail establishments, consumers preparing ground beef products should heed the following advice.

Wash hands with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds before and after handling raw meat and poultry. Wash cutting boards, dishes and utensils with hot, soapy water. Immediately clean spills.

Keep raw meat, fish and poultry away from other food that will not be cooked. Use separate cutting boards for raw meat, poultry and egg products and cooked foods.

Consumers should only eat ground beef or ground beef patties that have been cooked to a safe internal temperature of 160°F.

Color is NOT a reliable indicator that ground beef or ground beef patties have been cooked to a temperature high enough to kill harmful bacteria such as E. coli O157:H7.

The only way to be sure ground beef is cooked to a high enough temperature to kill harmful bacteria is to use a thermometer to measure the internal temperature.

Refrigerate raw meat and poultry within two hours after purchase or one hour if temperatures exceed 90°F. Refrigerate cooked meat and poultry within two hours after cooking.

i am thankful for
a man named bill. bill is my husband's boss. not only did he give michael a job when he needed one but he also makes sure that even when there are no loads to deliver he finds something for his men to do so they each get 40 hours of work. not every boss would do that!
bill also took notice of michael's hard work ethic and asked around to make sure it was ok with everyone else (who would rather take time off) that if a load came in late that michael could be the one to run it thus earning more money for us. this has helped us tremendously!!!

walmart and brookshires both had skinless bone in chicken breasts on sale for $1.29 a lb and i bought every pack both stores had!! brookshires had bone in skin on chicken breasts for 99 cents a lb and i bought all that too!(8 packs)

Last week, I had a 5-minute post-lecture chat with “Mary”, a rare gung-ho-for-health type who’s working all the lifestyle angles for optimum well-being (organic food - when available, no processed junk, ACSM-type diet, plenty of cardiovascular and strength training, yoga, alcohol consumption on special occasions only, green and herbal teas-no java, vitamins, etc.). As a habitual grazer, she normally munches on garden salads at both lunch and dinner. “I always buy Romaine or leaf lettuce” she remarked. “Iceberg has no nutritional value”. “Smart shopping”, I confirmed.



Later on, I recalled having hundreds of similar Iceberg-knocking conversations with resort guests. Then a light bulb went off... I realized that I had “bought into” a common belief without ever seeing any data. It was time for a reality check. Is Iceberg lettuce genuinely inferior (nutritionally) to other lettuce varieties, or could it have some redeeming value for health–conscious consumers? To put the issue to rest, I reviewed the USDA’s National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Release 15 (http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/Data/index.php). I have reformatted this information into a format that can be downloaded here. For the sake of relativity, recommended minimum daily intakes are included, where available (National Academy of Sciences, Daily Values). So. . . at the risk of being embarrassingly contraindicated by some sharp statistical analyses, let’s compare reported averages for several lettuce nutrients.

Nutrient Comparisons

Calories/Caloric Sources
The dozen or so calories inherent to 2 cups of lettuce never raises eyebrows. Theoretically, with everything else remaining equal, consuming a huge Iceberg garden salad daily for a year would result in ½ pound less body weight than our identical twin who opted for leaf lettuce. Since we do not live in a theoretical world, I’m inclined to dismiss the energy issue as a potential waste of precious scientific hot air.

However, a point can be made for the protein issue. It's been my experience that many consumers believe produce to be protein-free. Not so. According to SR15, lettuce has approximately 1 to 1-1/2 grams, depending on the type. Granted, it is small. However, the sum total of the protein derived from plant foods in a healthier diet may contribute 1/3 to 1/2 of our total protein requirement. Don't write off the fruits and veggies as insignificant protein sources. Gorillas, rhinos, horses - all herbivores - never seem to be lacking in muscle mass.

Phytosterols
Phytosterols reduce the risk of several diseases, especially cancer. According to our table, Looseleaf lettuce has almost 4 times as many phytosterols as Iceberg. Let's hear it for the Simpsons!

Fiber
The average person in this country consumes 11 grams of fiber per day. Responsible organizations like the AHA, ADA, and the US government recommend more – about 30 grams per day. Guests at Red Mountain normally consume 35-45 grams/day in approximately 1500 calories. Since fiber is inherent only to foods of the plant kingdom, all dietary veggies, like lettuce, have to be regarded as team players. In our comparison, Iceberg lettuce fared mediocre, ranking second lowest in fiber. Only Butterhead had less. The case for not buying Iceberg is evolving.

Vitamins
Iceberg bombed in vitamin A and C content – normally lucrative in most greens. It also ranked last in thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, B-6, and E. Only in folate (vitamin Bc), did it emerge from the cellar to rank second to lowest. There is no data for vitamins D and K.

Minerals
Iceberg continues to maintain its reputation as a low-nutrition, fiber-water bulking agent when comparing mineral content. For ash, a reflection of total minerals, Iceberg, once again ranked last. Specifically, it ranked last in calcium, phosphorous, and potassium; second to last in copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, and zinc; tied for first in selenium (4-way) and sodium (2-way). As indicated on the table, there are no analyses reported for chromium, iodine, or molybdenum.

Essential Amino Acids
There are 9 essential amino acids required for adults: histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. Although very low (and possibly non-significant), Iceberg lettuce ranked dead last in all 9 amino acids. In addition, Iceberg had the lowest level of tyrosine – a non-essential amino acid used by the body to synthesize thyroxine.

Essential Fatty Acids
Linoleic, linolenic, and arachidonic acids are necessary for maintaining healthy cell walls, normal cholesterol metabolism, and adequate levels of prostaglandins – body regulators of blood pressure, blood coagulation, and other functions. They are said to be essential. Among our lettuce competitors, Iceberg again demonstrated its Mets-like character (forgive me Mets fans) and ranked last in linoleic and linolenic acids. According to the chart, no data has been reported for arachidonic acid.

Omega-3 fat, normally thought to be in fish or produced from flaxseed oil, is in lettuce, albeit in small amounts (the smallest reported amount being in Iceberg).

Conclusions

We were right - forget Iceberg. In this evaluation, we compared statistically derived averages; and, it is possible (for some nutrients) there may not be any significant differences between some or all reported means. However, having glanced at a few reported standard deviations, I’m convinced that Iceberg has not been given a bum rap. It is inferior in nutrient content – avoid.

Butterhead in many instances approached the cellar in nutrient composition and lacked the overall track record required for a genuine salad bowl champion. To the contrary, Romaine and leaf type lettuces were much more impressive.

Bottom line: Buy Romaine (Cos) or Looseleaf lettuce; leave the head types in the produce department.

James Dobson, the founder of the Colorado Springs-based Focus on the Family Christian ministry, warned today that there is "utter evil" coming out of Washington, D.C., these days.

"I want to tell our listeners something has come up that is so shocking and so outrageous, we must make our friends out there aware of it," he said on his daily radio program.

"I'm going to speak very bluntly today because there's no other word for it: the utter evil that's coming out of Congress," he said. "I've been on the air 32 years and I've never seen a time quite like this.

"The radical left controls the executive branch through the president, and the Congress where the Democrats have control of both the House and the Senate," he said, adding the courts are expected to move even further to the left.

The target of his worry is the so-called "Hate Crimes" already approved in the U.S. House and now pending in the Senate.

By special arrangement through WND, for only $10.95 members of the public can send 100 individually addressed letters to each senator by overnight mail. Each letter is individually "signed" by the sender. The letters ask for a written response and call for opposition to the bill, including by filibuster if necessary.

A hearing on the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, already approved by the U.S. House as H.R. 1913 and pending in the Senate as S. 909, is expected in the Senate Judiciary Committee soon. It's been described by Shawn D. Akers, policy analyst with Liberty Counsel, as a bill to create penalties against "victims" who were chosen based on an "actual or perceived ... sexual orientation, gender identity."

Many have dubbed it the "Pedophile Protection Act," and U.S. Reps. Louis Gohmert, R-Texas, and Steve King, R-Iowa, explained on Dobson's program how they had tried to have majority Democrats in Congress define "sexual orientation" in the bill – and were refused.

They also tried to add an amendment that would state that pedophiles were not, in fact, protected under the law, and Democrats again voted to reject that idea.

King explained it's part of a national effort by homosexual activists not to just have the freedom to choose their lifestyle, but to be able to demand approval and likewise condemn those who don't agree with homosexuality.

More than 4,000 people already have sent 400,000-plus letters to the Senate expressing their concerns over the "Hate Crimes" plan, and the program has been extended indefinitely while the Senate has the plan pending.

First, he said, comes the so-called "hate crimes" law. Then will come the employment non-discrimination concept that says "thou shalt hire people of these proclivities." Finally, there would come the imposition of nation-wide same-sex marriage combined with speech limits banning any criticism of that, restrictions that already are in place in Canada..

Gohmert pointed out that Christians and their pastors need especially to be worried because of the bull's-eye being painted on them by homosexuals.

He said while the "hate crimes" bill says its provisions shouldn't be used against religious statements, there's an important word that follows that provision: "Unless."

That's unless "the evidence relates to that offense," he said.

And under existing federal law, someone who "induces" a crime can be tried, convicted and sentenced as the principal. He said that leaves open pastors and Christians to be prosecuted should someone who commits a crime claim to have heard them speaking against homosexuality.

Dobson said such threats to free speech and religious rights "keeps me awake at night."

He said the Christian community's response should be a massive prayer campaign.

Gohmert said he sees a future for the United States, iIf we have another awakening. If we don't, I'm not sure what's left."

Dresses Only




i was asked if am dresses only and the answer is yes. the reason is this verse-

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

the meaning of apparel does not mean clothing! the word apparel as used here is only used 1 time in all of scripture and it is used to describe what a woman should wear. (why does everyone's thoughts run to "this is a lack of freedom or a persecution thing? why does celebrating your femininity have to be a bad thing?)

the word used is katastolē-it means:

1) a lowering, letting down

2) a garment let down, dress, attire

how do you let down pants? (no smart alek remarks about hems here ladies!~smile~)

anyway i wrote this awhile ago and i thought i would rerun it now :)

i want my girls to not only be modest but feminine also. i don't want them to wear dresses simply for the sake of wearing dresses but rather to celebrate their femininity. modest doesn't have to mean boring, dark, brooding colors and styles but can also be seen in bright flouncy colors and styles as well. something that says "i love being a girl" something that screams FEMALE.
you don't scream FEMALE when you slap on a pair of jeans and a tshirt. as a matter of fact, from a distance someone might not be able to tell you are a female ~smile~

God created woman to be , well, womanly. that doesn't mean you dress in a sexy or show-offy way but rather that you signify the differences between you and the males of this world.

i'm instilling this thought in my daughters, even at the young ages they are. we talk about being lady-like and being "all girl". i don't teach them to spend hours on their clothes or such things but rather to take care what they wear and to make sure it's feminine. we also discuss that their actions should be feminine as well.
my girls are being taught to EXPECT the boy to open the door ( and likewise my boys are being taught to open the door).
they are being taught to respect their elders and give preference to them ( such as the last seat or to give up their own seat) so why shouldn't they be taught these matters of etiquette?

manners matter, kindness matters and so does being masculine or feminine. since the parents are to train up their children we feel these things are part of their training. ~smile~

no i don't think you are going to hell if you wear pants. i just think you are missing out on God's best :) (don't hate me- i was asked!!)

last nite a tornado warning was issued at 4 a.m my son heard the sirens going off and woke us up. wow was that wind whipping around!! i admit i was scared! our whole area was flooded again (goodbye newly planted herb garden), hail pounded us and debris is everywhere but the tornado never touched down here. not sure where it did , if it did. i hate this about texas!!!!!

today we are making instruments so we can make a joyful noise unto the Lord (psalm 100) plug your ears or join in! :)

we will also finish in our grammar book, our math books and read another chapter of gladys alyward. we school all year long so we will finish one set of books and go on to another. i chose rod and staff for english this year. i want to do an intense grammar study. i chose them for spelling too. we'll keep using saxon for math for everyone. i am gonna use abeka for history and science. i never do them the way they say but rather use them as jumping off points for all sorts of supplements.

yesterday parker made no bake cookies and boy were they great! i had one (ok several) when i got back from my walk. it has been raining so much lately ( the river is about to flood over they say and when that happens, well, PRAY!)that i have been unable to go on my daily walks. i love the fact that i have lost weight by doing this!!! park is already asking to bake something today and of course i'll let him ~smile~

don't use caustic chemicals to clean your home! I use baking soda and vinegar in the toilets, a spray bottle of vinegar and water for an all purpose cleaner plus i make my own detergent (see sidebar)

early mother's day

well i am home from thrift store shopping! this was my mother's day gift and i enjoyed it!
we bought some dresses for the girls- pics are coming later- and some shirts for them too.
parker now has 10 new books. he is thrilled. the rule for him is a book a day lol
i bought 2 books for myself too. and 2 shirts.
michael bought some shirts also.
sarah bought a jean skirt and some yarn.
benjamin got 2 video games and a video (braveheart)
we bought videos for the whole family! at 50 cents each!
i also bought a heartshaped wreath for the living room. it's gorgeous!

we had lunch at golden corral and later i got coffee at target while the others had sodas. we had run in there becuz a bad storm was coming our way and we needed to take cover. we couldn't make it home- the storm was blocking us! it turned out there was 4 feet of flooding.
while i was there i bought some organic baby food cuz i can't buy it in my little town so i always pick some up while i'm there. i do make some of drew's food but mangos aren't plentiful right now, kwim?!

well that was my mother's day early! yesterday i got candles from my little ones. parker gave me a coke too! lol!

please pray for my friend leandra. she has a tumor on her pitutary gland and that has caused a lot of other problems. she had a spinal tap which hurt very much and then they discovered that they did it wrong so they need to do it again. she is terrified!

the tumor is pressing on her optical nerve so she is losing vision.

leandra also has knee problems and needs surgery for that.

when i buy a reuseable shopping bag at walmart and then use it at target- what does that say?

does it say that i like walmart better but am rubbing it in target's face? that makes no sense, i am cutting off my nose to spite my face then.

does it say that i like target better but i cheated and went to walmart where i bought a shopping bag and now i am showing it to them to expose my guilt?

does it say i have no loyalty to either store and am simply going with what is cheaper or more to my likng at the moment?

and how does all this talk about shopping bags relate to christians?

if choice a is the winner then i am a christian (walmart) and am "flaunting" my beliefs in the non christian's(target) face. not exactly a good soul-winner conversation tactic!

if choice b is me then i am saying i am not a christian but i feel guilty about it, tho i'm not willing to make a change, and i am "proving" to you my unworthiness.

if choice c is it for you- then you are stradding both sides of the fence and it WILL catch up with you. there WILL be a judgement day and you'd be on the right side then . since we don't know when that day is coming......

now this may all seem silly to you but i bet next time you use a cloth shopping bag you'll be thinking which side of the fence am i on? if Jesus bought me i'd better be on His side.

i am a homeschooling mom to 7 children. their ages are- 23,16,8,7,5,3,and 8 months.

i moved to texas from florida 1 yr ago. from big city life to small town life. not sure yet how i feel about it.

as my children so lovingly remind me- i have a smattering of gray hair.

i am addicted to reading. nonfiction for the most part.

i am addicted to coffee! big time!! (i miss you arlene!!)

i am afraid of frogs tho i don't know why.

we leave our family planning up to God.

i have miscarried 6 babies.

i believe in Biblical submission, being a keeper at home, and headcoverings.

i love aprons. and teacups. and teapots.and bowls.

i always have a bowl of fruit and a vase of flowers on the table.

i powerwalk for exercise and pain relief- i suffer from chronic pain.

i want to visit Italy, Turkey and the Holy Land someday. speaking of Turkey- we almost moved there 15 yrs ago. i was so excited!! but it fell thru :(

i lose my temper easily but am getting much better at not :)

i am an only child.

i hate tv so we watch approved shows on the computer or dvds.

i don't usually wear makeup.

i have had 3 homebirths and 4 hospital ones. i prefer the homebirths.i had planned one with the last baby but he became sick so we had no choice. he came out perfect tho!

my fav chore is vacuuming.

i love mexican and italian food.

i bake a mean vegan chocolate cake and terrific oatmeal raisin cookies.

i was asked about gardening. in the past i have done a lot of gardening but it seems since we moved here a year ago that we just can't get our act together lol we are renting instead of owning so that means a container garden and we haven't been able to do much more than herbs this year. fireants ate everthing last year- all my tomatos, cukes, peppers etc.

my new roaster oven is a general electric 18 qt roaster.

well let me catch you all up on happenings in my house. :)

michael got a raise! yay- insert happy dance here

we were gifted with a check that we were totally not expecting but plan to put to good use. i bought a roaster pan/crockpot with $30 of it so i can save money in the kitchen. this thing is awesome! i used it last nite to make muffins- i just put my muffin tins right inside it! so cool. that was breakfast this a.m- frozen bananas and banana raisin muffins.
(we usually just do oatmeal,smoothies, brown rice or pb toast for breakfast but sundays i like to be a bit different.)

the librarian gifted me with several old "country" magazines so i have plenty to read!

ben's bday was a success. we bought him bike parts and he used his walmart gift card that we gave him to buy more bike parts lol we also bought him a video game.

our landlord gave us new kitchen faucets! the others were OLD and falling apart so we asked for new ones and they came :) my home is only about 60 years old but that's when it was last updated lol

i won another giveaway! a book about frugal green cleaning. i'll share any tips i glean from it :)

i have noticably lost weigh since i began my daily walking. YAY!!!


the baby, andrew, is pulling himself up now. he sits up real well too. since i am dieting- really just cutting out snacks- some now i added 2 meals of food to his diet. once at around 10, right before naptime, and another at our dinner so he can eat with the rest of us. i steam vegies and mash them up for him- his favorite is carrots- and smash fruits up too.

i have solidified my school plans for next year. what a relief! rod and staff texts plus readers from sonlight all around! we will continue in saxon math tho since we are doing well with it. yes i know- i change my mind constantly but this one will stick. i have complete perfect peace from God about this.



i am on a new project! going electric- free. yep! i am following and i am making my plans. well actually hubby won't let me go as far as sherry in the article did but we are making changes. i'm just afraid that we won't notice them much becuz i already am super careful so we shall see. we already linedry our laundry- except when it's raining and i don't have room to hang them inside like sherry does. i turn off all lights etc. BUT now i have that roaster oven which pulls a 110 instead of 220 so that should help. i can do so much in it that i will use it the more than the "big" oven :) we will reduce our dishwasher usage as well. i don't run the air unless we are just miserable.

let's see- i am making our laundry detergent, our cleaners, our "cascade" and now our toothpaste. i use cloth towels instead of paper towels,rent videos and books from the library instead of buying them, cook from scratch, use cloth diapers, and all the usual things we all come up with. can anyone help me think of any other ways to save?
