Georgetown gets $20 million from prince promoting Islam
Just months later, university ejects evangelical Christians from campus

The Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University has been renamed after Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal donated $20 million to its projects. And while that may be just the tail, the dog appears to be moving away from its historic Catholic and Jesuit teaching philosophy too.
The Center's leaders say it now will be used to put on workshops regarding Islam, fostering exchanges with the Muslim world, addressing U.S. policy towards the Muslim world, working on the relationship of Islam and Arab culture, addressing Muslim citizenship and civil liberties, and developing exchange programs for students from the Muslim world.
The "Christian" part of the center's projects at the university that has a history of 200 years of higher education following its Christian founding, is conspicuous by its absence in its website plans for its 10-year future.
But that won't be a surprise to leaders of a number of Christian evangelical groups whose leaders recently were told to leave the campus and not list Georgetown University as a site for operations in the future.
That story, reported by WND earlier, still has folks wondering what happened to cause Georgetown officials to ban InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and others. InterVarsity spokesman Gordon Govier said the organization still doesn't know why the move was announced by university officials, who did not return WND messages left inquiring about the situation.
"We still are a little bit confused about what happened," he told WND. "We haven't been able to identify clearly what happened."
He said Christians in the InterVarsity organization still are meeting at Georgetown, but they have no official sanction and are meeting without recognition, much as many Christian churches in nations where religion is regulated meet.
He said there is a committee meeting that is supposed to hear concerns from Christians, and InterVarsity is hopeful there will be a positive outcome, but there's no time frame set.
But the time frame for other interests that have become relevant to Georgetown are a little more apparent. The school's Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding confirmed several months ago that the $20 million donation was made by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, and a short time later the Center was given the added moniker as Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding.
The organization now features a number of pro-Muslim statements and articles, with little reference to any Christian statements or understandings. It even has co-sponsored events with CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
CAIR is a spin-off of the Islamic Association for Palestine, identified by two former FBI counterterrorism chiefs as a "front group" for the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Several CAIR leaders have been convicted on terrorism-related charges.
The center's chief, John L. Esposito, summarizes the goals of the organization clearly: "The Prince Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding is concerned with Islam and the West and Islam in the West. The Center, since its creation in 1993, has built bridges of understanding between the Muslim world and the West, addressing stereotypes of Islam and Muslims and issues and questions such as the clash of civilizations, and the compatibility of Islam and modern life – from democratization and pluralism to the status of women, minorities and human rights – and American foreign policy in the Muslim world."
The Center says it recognizes the increasing demands because of the world's "critical turning point in the history of Muslim-Christian relations" so it will expand its expertise base and operations, "as well as strengthen the website as a source of critical information about Islam and the Muslim world."
The Center's assistant director, Huma Malik, told WND that the $20 million came from the prince because the center is working on projects that interest him, but she could not comment on the influence of the donation or why the evangelical Christians were barred from campus.
The center was founded in 1993 in cooperation with the Fondation pour L'Entante entre Chretians at Musulmans in Geneva "to build strong bridge of understanding between the Muslim world and the West as well as between Islam and Christianity."
The message of acting as an information source for Islam was reinforced in the fact that while the Center's website includes a link for Islamic Resources, there is none for Christian resources.
It also takes a distinct policy stance, with Esposito noting in a recent posting that "despite 'HAMAS' victory in free and democratic elections, the United States and Europe failed to give the party full recognition and support," he wrote.
That type of behavior, he said, provides reasons for "many Muslim autocratic rulers' to retreat from democratization, and he cited a Gallup World Study that says it is the policies of the U.S. that generate hurt in the Muslim world.
"One billion Muslims from Morocco to Indonesia … tell us that U.S. policies, not values, are behind the ire of the Arab/ Muslim world," he wrote.
Those voices, he wrote, say that while America and the United Kingdom are disliked, other Western nations such as France and Germany are not. He also wrote that the U.S. is suspected because of its relationship to Israel.
"The United States failed to support UN mediation in the face of clear violations of international law, refused to heed calls for a ceasefire and UN intervention, and continued to provide military assistance to Israel," he said of the recent conflict, triggered by a military attack on Israeli soldiers.
"America’s unconditional support of Israel cast it in the eyes of many as a partner, not simply in military action against HAMAS or Hizbollah militants, but in a war against the democratically elected Palestinian government in Gaza and the government of Lebanon, a long-time US ally," he said.
"The primary victims in Gaza and Lebanon were hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, not terrorists. In Lebanon, more than 500 were killed, 2,000 wounded, and 800,000 displaced. Israeli’s military destroyed the civilian infrastructures of both Gaza and Lebanon."
He said "HAMAS and Hizbollah" both are elected political parties, even though the U.S. and others have labeled them "terrorist organizations."
The Center, on a daily news clip posting, highlighted stories quoting a Mecca Imam saying non-Muslims are attacking Muslims out of fear of being over-run by Muslims and the London mayor noting that Muslims in Britain are being "demonized," comparing their recent treatment in London to the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany.
Faculty members also are being interviewed by al-Jazeera, a network
with sources in many terrorist camps.
The prince, who controls tens of billions of dollars in investments in Morgan Stanley, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Deutsche Bank, Apple Computer, Hewlett-Packard, Kodak, The Walt Disney company and ebay, works through the Kingdom Holdings company.
He also had given a similar $20 million gift to Harvard, which sponsors a Harvard Law School Islamic Legal Studies Program, and the Islamic Finance Project, which looks at the legal and sharia points of view of situations, officials said.
The Alliance Defense Fund earlier wrote a letter to Georgetown asking for reconsideration of its ban on several Christian groups. Officials said no response was received.
Those in a position to know have reported that the Christian groups were booted from campus for being too evangelical, because student clubs promoting Muslim and Jewish beliefs were allowed to continue existing with the formal campus structure.
The Christian groups' brush-off letter from the university starts: "Blessings and may God's peace be upon you!" but deteriorates shortly later to: "Protestant Ministry has decided to move in another direction."
As a result, Georgetown said, "Your ministries will no longer be allowed to hold any activity or presence (i.e. bible (sic) studies, retreats with Georgetown students, Mid-week (sic) worship services, fellowship events, move-in assistance, SAC Fair, etc.) on campus."
Further, the school told the ministry organizations, "All websites linking your ministries to a presence at Georgetown University will need to be modified to reflect the terminated relationship. Your ministries are not to publicize in any literature, media, advertisement, etc. that Georgetown University is or will be an active ministry site for your ministry/church/denomination."
Kevin Offer, who worked with the InterVarsity program at Georgetown, said something had been developing, because the university also recently had started requiring student ministry leaders to meet for formal meetings with the school.
"School officials asked questions about what they 'tell students behind closed doors,'" he said.

carrots!
It seems that they are no longer made from deformed carrots, but they are being genetically modified to be sweeter and more orange so the kids will eat them--Double yuck!!!!
http://www.snopes.com/food/tainted/carrots.asp
The following is information from a farmer who grows and packages carrots for IGA, METRO, LOBLAWS, etc.
The small cocktail (baby) carrots you buy in small plastic bags are made using the larger crooked or deformed carrots which are put through a machine which cuts and shapes them into cocktail carrots. Most people probably know this already. What you may not know and should know is the following: once the carrots are cut and shaped into cocktail carrots they are dipped in a solution of water and chlorine in order to preserve them (this is the same chlorine used your pool) since they do not have their skin or natural protective covering, they give the m a higher dose of chlorine.
You will notice that once you keep these carrots in your refrigerator for a few days, a white covering will form on the carrots; this is the chlorine which resurfaces. At what cost do we put our health at risk to have esthetically pleasing vegetables which are practically plastic?
We do hope that this information can be passed on to as many people as possible in the hopes of informing them where these carrots come from and how they are processed. Chlorine is a very well known carcinogen.
so look for baby carrots, not baby cut carrots.
please, if you missed it, read my post below.

sticking our heads in the sand or no
how political do i want to be? how much do i want to write about current events , that affect our very beings as christians?
this blog is about homemaking. i want to write tips about cleaning and cute things my children do. i want to share info on how to make your home a haven BUT i don't want to stick my head in the sand. and i don't want you to either.
sisters we are headed for hard times i'm afraid! our ability to grow our own food has already been taken away from us, we won't be able to buy organic soon becuz BIG BROTHER doesn't want us to so we will be eating God knows how many cancer-causing chemicals, prices are skyrocketing yet our paychecks are getting smaller, they are trying to make it illegal not to vaccinate your child- again filling them with God knows what!, they want one world currency now! sisters- this is spoken about in the Word!! whether Jesus comes back next week or 10 yrs from now, we have already started.
how does this affect us as homemakers? i myself have a husband who is marching and demonstrating whenever he can yet i have little babies that don't thrive in all day heat and noise. so i stay home with them. am i doing the right thing? am i not doing my part?
what is my part? what does the Word say?
Tts 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
behavior- demeanour, deportment, bearing
holiness-1) befitting men, places, actions or sacred things to God
2) reverent
false accusers-1) prone to slander, slanderous, accusing falsely
a) a calumniator, false accuser, slanderer,
2) metaph. applied to a man who, by opposing the cause of God, may be said to act the part of the devil or to side with him
what are good things? the bible only says teaching that which is good, a teacher of goodness
Tts 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
teach? how do we do that?
1) restore one to his senses
2) to moderate, control, curb, disciple
3) to hold one to his duty
4) to admonish, to exhort earnestly
how do we love our husbands? we are to treat him as a friend , to be friendly to one, wish him well
Tts 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
discreet- 1) of a sound mind, sane, in one's senses
2) curbing one's desires and impulses, self-controlled, temperate
chaste-1) exciting reverence, venerable, sacred
2) pure
a) pure from carnality, chaste, modest
b) pure from every fault, immaculate
c) clean
what is a keeper at home?
1) caring for the house, working at home
a) the (watch or) keeper of the house
b) keeping at home and taking care of household affairs
c) a domestic
what does good mean?
1) of good constitution or nature
2) useful, salutary
3) good, pleasant, agreeable, joyful, happy
4) excellent, distinguished
5) upright, honourable
what does obedient mean?
1) to arrange under, to subordinate
2) to subject, put in subjection
3) to subject one's self, obey
4) to submit to one's control
5) to yield to one's admonition or advice
6) to obey, be subject
This word was a Greek military term meaning "to arrange [troop divisions] in a military fashion under the command of a leader". In non-military use, it was "a voluntary attitude of giving in, cooperating, assuming responsibility, and carrying a burden".
well those are my duties laid out for me. by God. what does that say i should be doing in this circumstance? do i shout out about the government goings on or give you a new recipe? do i do both? it is amazing to me how many people are ignoring what is going on right under their noses! but it does say in the bible that God has blinded some people so i shouldn't be shocked!
do i feel that the end of the world is tomorrow no. do i feel we are on our way? yes. now what do i blog about? what do sisters want to know? mainstream media isn't reporting what is going on- talk about being bought and paid for! and BLIND. yet how much do you want to know?
is talking about throw pillows rather stupid when our food shortages will be causing a problem soo? or do we need this information about housekeeping so we can keep our homes a haven?
you tell me. what is it you are looking for? i by no means want to become political yet i don't want to have knowledge and not give it to you. you can choose to believe it or not.

late at the well too

here is your assignment. Use your blog as a place to thank God publicly for your husband (make sure you are sensitive and do not share things that might embarrass him inadvertently). It should be fun to read all of the great lists!
ok here is my list
i am so thankful to God for my husband michael. when i met him i was a single mom to sarah and whenever he took me out he never wavered at taking her along with us. he never balked at having to buy 3 meals instead of 2. he never complained becuz it was her bedtime and she had to go home to bed. he said "that's ok, we can watch tv".
as a struggling solo mom my finances weren't great and he would often bring snacks for the night with a few extras thrown in , like a couple of steaks and a pound of hamburger! hmmmm- dinner for the next two nights! thank you!
nowadays , after being together for 20 something years, he still never wavers when it comes time to buy something for one of the kids. as most dads are he has no clue what they need at the moment or what object makes their heart beat faster but i , as mommy and queen of the household- my dd nicknamed me that- always know what item to pick up at walmart and he just accepts whatever i throw in the cart.
he gives me money - when we have it- and only later do i realize i took his last dollar for lunch that week to buy an ice cream cone for myself . he never says a word.
he lets me buy the hamburger now - well he is still paying for it ~smile~- and eats whatever concoction i come up with for meals. thankfully i have only had to throw away in 2 meals in my entire cooking journey!
michael is a hard worker and always looking out for his family's future. i notice he doesn't always "see" the present- he lets me handle that- but he sure can tell you what's down the line and what we need to do about it. a skill i lack. so between my present and his future we are guiding our family well.

a simple woman's NIGHT book ~smile~

late but joining in :)
outside my window... fit is pitch dark so i can't see all the birds and flowers i saw today
I am thinking... i wish the children would fall asleep NOW!
From the learning rooms... we made creation lapbooks today
I am thankful for... a peaceful day
From the kitchen... starbucks instant coffee in my mug
I am wearing... my black nightie with the lace heart on the front.
I am reading... blogs i like
I am hoping... to get a shower tonite
I am creating... a haven (see my last entry)
I am hearing... the girls giggling in the dark
Around the house... last load of laundry being done, dishes put away, baby food made and stored in jars in fridge, kids bathed,
One of my favorite things... books!
A few plans for the rest of the week... making a haven!
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

more on hr 1388
since i have detractors- tho this time we each had a valid point!- i thought i'd pass along the real info. your local newscast isn't going to tell you this- they are bought and paid for.
hr 1388 was passed and does make service mandatory. click on a link and see congress in action
this link here is a direct link via c-span of the House in session.
this link marks the daily congressional outline of the bill- mandatory service is called for and passed
this link has the exact language of the bill and the description of those included in the mandatory service.
apparently if you plan to go to college you will be participating in mandatory service but lyn is correct- is is not mandatory for everyone. good to know!

saturday's going-ons (plus a review)
well , not to be outdone in the kitchen department, my middle son parker- aged 8- decided to make chocolate chip cookies for the family. not just any old chocolate chip cookies but DATE chocolate chip cookies. mmmmm. were they good! i'd show you an picture but what of? the empty plate? lol
anyway- here's the recipe
2 1/4 cups flour - i always use whole wheat for everything but you could use white
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter-softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs beaten
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups semi sweet chips
1 cup chopped dried dates
mix altogether til batter is gooey, add chips and dates , plop by tspful onto ungreased cookie sheets. cookies flatten on their own :) bake for 10 min at 375.

REVIEW TIME
I was asked to review the read and share dvd bible put out by thomas nelson. here is my take:
first off there are 13 stories on this dvd, both from the old and new testaments. it is a cartoon so that appeals to the kids right away.but it's not cutesy cartoon -it's more a sophisticated cartoon.
my children- ages 3,5,7,and 8 all enjoyed the film. they were able to see bible stories come to life.and what i thought was genius- each story was only 3 minutes long! perfect for kids whose attention spans aren't the longest! perfect for pausing in between stories and discussing a bit of what we had seen.
the music was a nice touch also- helping to set the mood.
this dvd comes with extras too!! yay! moms love extras! coloring sheets, behind the scenes, interviews with real children - making mine feel "part of the group" and more.
all in all i'd give this read and share dvd bible an A, for teaching and entertaining.

yesterday at our house
free tomato seeds
more free tomato seeds
free gardening magazine
well yesterday was a busy kitchen day. i went and made more household cleaners. i make my "cascade" by pouring one cup borax, 1 cup baking soda, and 1/2 cup salt all in my pretty jar with the blue flowers on it. then i can wash dishs in the mechanical box instead of the sink :) i also add vinegar to the little rinse thingee.

i also made "tide" . there is a recipe on the sidebar but i am using a new one now that i think i like a little better cuz i am not pouring boiling hot water into things with a 3 yr old climbing around my leg saying "whatcha doin'?" i simply shred a bar of soap- i like ivory-, add a cup of borax and a cup of baking soda. i pour vinegar when i do a load (which is every 15 minutes 7 days a week at my house) in to use as a fabric softner.
i also put my kids to work in the kitchen. i don't have a digital camera yet so i can't show you pics - i bring things in my bedroom and put them on my nighttable when i want a pic lol. anyway- hannah -aged 7- made a hamburger noodle soup all by hereself (i chopped the vegies). she got the recipe from a little women book.
3 yr old jamison made peanut butter fudge with mommy. and 5 yr old rebekah made scones, again from the little women book. she rolled out that dough and kneaded it herself bless her heart.

if you are so inclined - check out the hr 1388 bill that passed the house yeaterday. pray it doesn't pass the senate! it takes something good and voluntary and makes it mandatory. the press isn't saying a lot about it . anyway- it would make it mandatory that all people from ages 18-25 serve 3 months in the inner city , acting as "soldiers". scary thought!

WHAT?

i'm confused.
parker and i are studying the civil war. this leads us to a discussion about slavery. this leads us to discuss about how blacks are treated in general , both in the past and today. this leads us to remembering that the indignities that blacks experienced at the woolworth's counter, on the bus and that fateful november day when ruby first attended a "white" school, can also be traced back to how the slaves were treated during the civil war.
we started reading about the underground railroad and i remembered the quilts people would leave out as signs of a safe house. so i googled that. hoping for a picture of a quilt. instead i got articles of how that is all a myth. nope, never happened.
another myth- rosa parks wasn't a tired housecleaner sitting down after a day's work. nope , she was a paid mouthpiece for the NCAAP. that famous boycott was all planned out in advance and tired feet had nothing to do with it.
WHAT? insert a gasping sound here.
what's the story? i know many have tried (including PUBLIC SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS) to make it out that the holocaust didn't occur. which i KNOW it did. is that what is happening here?
did these things happen as i always knew they did or am i wrong?
unconfuse me.

not what i wanted
my initial entry today really upsets me. that is NOT what my blog was intended to be like. i wanted to share homemaking tips and such!! but i certainly don't want to stick my head in the sand. nor do i want you to!
however i simply don't want to have a "political" blog here. i am way to busy for that. i took time away from homeschooling to write that entry- and now this one- and i "resent" it. i can certainly get on my soapbox!!
so if it's alright with you all can we get back to homemaking?

public school again
since we have been discussing it and i have had some disbelievers i thought i'd share a very tiny bit of what i find on the net. lyn didn't leave a email so i had no choice but to address her "concerns" here. this entry has some strong words so warning for young eyes!!
i started listing things and i am already tired of doing so. if lyn and others are naive enough to think it doesn't happen then let them think that way. all one has to do is read a newspaper, go online (planned parenthood and public school searchs are always sickening) or ask kids what really happens in public school. as i said before - you may have a nice sweet teacher but she is still bound by laws. laws that don't care about your children. i am so angry that people believe that there is good in a public school when they don't know anything but what they see at that moment.
did you know about the new laws concerning textbooks? probably not- i'll let you search that one. this info came from my friend on the school board. did you hear how my teacher friend took a bible to school, laid it on her desk - closed- and got in trouble from the principal becuz "someone might ask you about it and we are not allowed legally to talk about the bible"? betcha didn't hear about that! not allowed to say merry christmas or put it in a memo cuz you'll get fired- straight from the school board - becuz it promotes religion. or how all clubs are allowed on public school property BUT the christian ones can't put out flyers like the others can , to tell when their meetings are? maybe you didn't.
here are just a few. lyn you probably won't read them becuz you don't want to believe it. you want a nice safe world where everyone actually cares about you but taht isn't real. as for your comments no i am not afraid of anything but satan becua he is behind all the evil in the world. there are no drugs in my classroom. there are Jesus shirts tho. there are no abortion promoting books in my class. so yes my classroom is better than a public school one.
am i afraid? you bet!!! and you should be too! if not , you will be rudely awakened some day!
clothing issue- Orono, ME: Gelsey Bostick, 9, a third-grade student in an Orono public school, wore a black sweatshirt to school with the name "Jesus Christ" in white lettering. Her teacher asked her to reverse the top.
A few days later, she wore a T-shirt that also said "Jesus Christ." The teacher complained again and the girl switched to another shirt. The teacher's reason was that the clothing was causing a disturbance in class. One pupil's name is Jesus; this "prompted lots of chatter among the kids."
Another pupil had been offended by the sweatshirt. Gelsey's mother went to the media and eventually to a public interest law firm. She apparently did not attempt to resolve the problem herself by talking with school officials. The school maintains that these events were unrelated to religion. Principal Susan O’Roak said: "This is not an issue about Gelsey’s faith. It was about other students interpreting her shirt as being swear words...There were no religious overtones."
5 During early March, the Thomas More Center for Law & Justice successfully intervened on Gelsey's behalf. In a letter to school officials, they "identified the clearly established constitutional right of this young student to wear a shirt expressing her religious faith." 6
clothing issue MI: Students ordered to not wear pro-life T-shirts: The principal at Houghton Lake High School in Michigan ordered two students to not wear pro-life shirts. They carried messages like "Abortion is Mean" and "Abortion is Homicide." The reason given is that the slogans might offend someone. Attorney Ed White from the Thomas More Law Center said: "At the same school, kids walk around with other shirts that advertise all different types of clothing companies, sports teams, Playboy Bunny symbols...One kid even has a shirt with the pictures – no nudity – with photographs of Playboy models on it. So those students are allowed to express their messages, but these pro-life students are not....This is one of many, many cases we have had during this past year where it’s always if you have a pro-life expression on your shirt, that is met with disapproval by the administration. But other messages – and it can be everything as sensitive as a Playboy model or 'Grab her booty and pinch,' which one kid has [on his shirt] – and its okay." White has written to the school, explaining about free-speech rights.
clothing issue IA: Many students across the U.S. wore t-shirts in support of National Pro-life T-shirt Day. The shirts had an image of a fetus and the words "Abortion Kills Kids." Two sisters who were youth group members of Kingsway/Eagle Vision Church and students at Roosevelt High School in Des Moines IA were ordered to replace their shirts. The administration said that they were disruptive to other students.
pro gay day TINLEY PARK, Ill., Mar. 3 /Christian Newswire/ — A national coalition of pro-family organizations is urging parents to call their children out of school on April 17. This is the day designated for this year’s Day of Silence when students and/or teachers will purposely remain silent during instructional time to protest so-called discrimination and gain sympathy for students who identify as homosexual or transgender.
The Day of Silence is a yearly event sponsored by the partisan political action group, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). The implicit purpose is to undermine the belief that homosexuality is immoral. It is the belief of the sponsors of the Walkout that parents should no longer passively accept the political usurpation of taxpayer funded public school classrooms through student silence.
sex books in school libraries WITHOUT PARENTS CONSENT(AgapePress) - An Arkansas mother who succeeded in getting three sexually explicit books removed from Fayetteville school libraries says she has found there are more than a hundred books of that nature in the school district. Now a mental health counselor is recommending a parental audit of all the books in the city’s school libraries.
According to a search conducted by Fayetteville mom Laurie Taylor, out of 502 books listed under “sex” in the city’s middle, junior high, and high school libraries, there are 66 books on sex instruction, and 32 of those are on child sex instruction. Another 75 of the books deal with homosexuality, 23 fall under the category of lesbian fiction, 16 are on rape, 9 on incest, and there are even some books on bestiality.
Taylor and other concerned mothers and fathers are calling area school officials on the carpet for allowing books filled with profanity and gratuitous sex to remain on the shelves in the city’s schools. The group has asked Superintendent Bobby New and school board members to restrict students’ access to the materials. Meanwhile, Taylor and other parents have begun reviewing the libraries’ collections and are providing a summary of some of the shocking and offensive content they have found on the “http://www.wpaag.org/” website.
“The majority of these … are fiction books,” the Arkansas mom notes, “so there’s no educational
value in them outside of the fact that they’re literary — and I hesitate when I say ‘works’ — but they’re literary works that have been put into our library system to, in my opinion, desensitize and indoctrinate our kids to thinking that sex with whoever, whenever, whatever you want to is okay.”
Taylor points out that, although the bulk of these books are actually in the middle school and above, in Fayetteville any child in the entire county — which covers several school districts — can access any book from the library. “And here’s the terrible thing,” she adds; after choosing a possibly inappropriate book from any of the libraries, boys and girls can “have it delivered to their home school without their parents’ consent or knowledge.”
planned parenthood teaching abortion, homosexuality and more Planned Parenthood to re-file mandatory school sex-ed, homosexuality bill in Mass. Legislature in January.
Bill was killed in committee in 2006 and 2008 after statewide parent outrage!
November 25, 2008
The parents' nightmare is coming back. When the Legislature goes back into session in January, Planned Parenthood and its homosexual / sex-ed coalition are poised to re-file its bill to make "comprehensive health education" (which includes homosexuality, abortion, and other radical issues) a mandatory part of the curriculum for the public schools.
The goal is to make "health education" a legal state requirement for graduation from Massachusetts public schools, and even for passing to higher grade levels. It would also base the required teaching of "comprehensive health" issues throughout grades K-12 on the infamous "Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum Framework", which includes extremely offensive and controversial mandates on homosexuality, abortion counseling, intrusive psychological issues, sex education, and other topics. Currently, that framework is optional, and practically all schools ignore it. more on this can be found here

Planned Parenthood pushing mandatory pre-K-12 sex ed in Massachusetts
Following are excerpts of information put out by the Massachusetts Catholic Conference:
The Massachusetts legislature is currently considering House Bill 1641, "An Act to Provide for a Comprehensive Health Education Program in the Public Schools." The bill would make lessons on such issues as sexuality, abortion, and birth control part of the core public school curriculum. Currently, local public school committees are not required to include sexuality education in their curricula.
The bill would force every primary and secondary public school to adopt a standardized curriculum created by the Massachusetts Department of Education and backed by Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts.
This curriculum, available online, is called the Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum Framework. The framework applies from pre-kindergarten to the twelfth grade.
The standards dictate that children as young as 5 years of age, for example, would have to "Identify the components, functions, and processes of the reproductive system," "Identify the physical changes as related to the reproductive system during puberty," and "Define sexual orientation using the correct terminology (such as heterosexual, and gay and lesbian)."
All Stoppers in Massachusetts are urged to contact their state representatives and let them know you strongly oppose this bill.
Planned Parenthood pushing "condom art" classes to teens in Michigan
Planned Parenthood of South Central Michigan is holding a "Project T.R.U.S.T. Condom Art Workshop and Contest" for teens in Battle Creek, Michigan on February 15.
According to Planned Parenthood, "Project T.R.U.S.T. (Teaching Responsibility & Understanding of Sexuality & Teen Development) peer educators will be holding condom art workshops. Come make a beautiful creation out of condoms, find out all the facts on using condoms correctly, and get a free gift! Prizes will be awarded to the winner of the condom art project. Teen peer educators will be available to answer any questions participants may have in a confidential environment."
Stoppers in the Battle Creek area are encouraged to demonstrate against this event, which will be held from 3:30-5:00 p.m. and 5:30-7:00 p.m. at 693 Capital Ave., S.W. Battle Creek, MI 49015
Planned Parenthood pushing homosexual agenda on youth

my blog
it seems many are missing the point with the case against homeschooling. the father was still married for 4 years after the wife began homeschooling. if he ever had an objection don't you think that he should have spoken up before the divorce? ~smile~
the case isn't a custody battle or the like.
the problem for all of us homeschooling is what the judge said! regardless of how well the children are doing in school since they are being taught creationism there is a problem. he said so!!! well i teach creationism!! when will my rights be stripped away?!
ladies you don't all have to agree with every word i say but i don't back down from having a strong opinion and posting it on my blog. one commenter stated that satan wasn't in all public schools. i am sorry but if you can look at ANY public school and not see satan in the workings you are not looking. maybe your child's teacher is a sweet kind person but that doesn't change the laws she has to follow. if we are not teaching creationism then we are teaching evolution and that is satan. if we are taking control away from the parents and having tolerance day to indoctrinate our children in something we are against that is satan. if we are allowing our kids to be taught about sex by people who don't share our biblical morals that is satan.
when teachers are molesting students and drug use is rampant in the classrooms that is satan.
the government runs the public school system, not kind sweet ladies, and the government is not christian. if you aren't christian and for God then you are against God and that is satan.
please don't stick your heads in the sand and hope for the best or believe that everyone out there is kind and sweet. satan was given control of this world until Christ comes back - very clearly stated in the Word, and he will do anything he can to get our children.

fingerprinting to sell a home?
Giving The Fingerprint: Home Law Raises Concern
Sellers Will Be Required To Provide Thumbprint Before Deal Is Approved
Reporting
Mike Puccinelli
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
Real estate certainly has its risks and fraud is a growing problem, but now there's a new law that's supposed to protect buyers. As CBS 2's Mike Puccinelli reports the new law will also place an unusual burden on the seller.
Fingerprinting is something we often associate with crime. So the fact that Cook County home sellers will soon have to provide a thumb print left some people shocked.
"I wouldn't like that at all. I don't think that's necessary," said Chicagoan Donald Hayes.
"I don't know what I think about that. Not very good, I think, said Jenny Armstrong of Lake Villa.
The new law, which is set to go into effect June 1, 2009, will force anyone selling property in Cook County to provide a thumbprint from their right hand.
"No more so than any law abiding citizen walking down the sidewalk should be fingerprinted; just for selling my house, that's ridiculous," said Gerald Cain of Land Acquisitions, Inc.
Cain has been in the real estate consulting business for decades. He says the law is intrusive and threatens to create fraud when it's designed to prevent it.
Cain has been notarizing documents for more than a quarter century, but he says unless the fingerprint rule is revoked, he plans to get out of the business.
"I would probably just quit; liability for me is too much," Cain said.
Joseph Rogul of the Professional National Title Network isn't worried about the law and rather welcomes it.
"We're in favor of it. Fraud has been a big problem for title companies like us. We don't think it will add too much of a burden on us," said Rogul.
Rogul says consumers will likely have to pay a little more, but he believes the benefits will outweigh the costs, because widespread fraud in the industry means widespread costs, which are typically passed on to the consumer.
The law specifies that consumers can be charged up to $25 to cover fingerprint processing costs.
Unless it's reintroduced, the thumbprint rule is set to expire in 2013. Cain is calling on lawmakers to repeal the provision.
Experts say one basic example of real estate fraud occurs when a seller misrepresents his or her identity, receives money and then flees.

Wake judge orders home schoolers into public classrooms

Raleigh, N.C. — A judge in Wake County said three Raleigh children need switch from home school to public school. Judge Ned Mangum is presiding over divorce proceeding of the children's parents, Thomas and Venessa Mills.
Venessa Mills was in the fourth year of home schooling her children who are 10, 11 and 12 years old. They have tested two years above their grade levels, she said.
"We have math, reading; we have grammar, science, music,” Venessa Mills said.
Her lessons also have a religious slant, which the judge said was the root of the problem.
"My teaching is strictly out of the Bible, and it's very clear. It is very evident so I just choose to follow the Bible,” Venessa Mills said.
In an affidavit filed Friday in the divorce case, Thomas Mills stated that he "objected to the children being removed from public school." He said Venessa Mills decided to home school after getting involved with Sound Doctrine church "where all children are home schooled."
Thomas Mills also said he was "concerned about the children's religious-based science curriculum" and that he wants "the children to be exposed to mainstream science, even if they eventually choose to believe creationism over evolution."
In a verbal ruling, Mangum said the children should go to public school.
"He was upfront and said that, 'It's not about religion.' But yet when it came down to his ruling and reasons why, 'He said this would be a good opportunity for the children to be tested in the beliefs that I have taught them,'" Venessa Mills said.
All sides agree the children have thrived with home school, and Vanessa Mills thinks that should be reason enough to continue teaching at home.
"I cannot sit back and allow this to happen to other home schoolers. I don't want it happening to my children,” Venessa Mills said.
Mangum said he wouldn't talk with WRAL News Thursday about the details of the case because he hasn't issued a written ruling yet. He said he expected to sign it in a few weeks.
An estimated 71,566 students were taught at home during the 2007-08 school year, according to figures released by the state Division of Non-Public Education. The enrollment amounts to about 4 percent of students ages 7 to 16 in North Carolina – students in that age range are required by state law to attend school. About two-thirds of the schools classified themselves as religious schools.
Home school students and their parents plan to come to Raleigh on March 24 to lobby at the state Legislature. They want to demonstrate they have a strong voice regarding education.

skin md and more

here is my review of skin md, a lotion i was pleased to get a chance to review for you all. :)
the first thing i noticed was how light it felt. the next thing i noticed was the "shield" yes, i mean a shield. i know the product has a suncreen and i could tell! it felt like a barrier between me and the sun. but not in a bad way- a good way! it felt light and silky. that was what i noticed the most- the silkiness.
i also noticed that even tho i could detect a hint of "sunscreen scent" that we are all familiar with it wasn't overbearing like it can be in other lotions. so that was a plus!
all in all i give this product and A!
here's the link to their website- check it out!
i was finally asked! why don't i write in capital letters at all? easy answer! years ago i read a book called "yes" by ann kiemel anderson. it had a profound affect on me. you just don't know!! anyway- she didn't ever use capital letters becuz she felt only God , Jesus and their various names deserved that respect. i adopted this method as a teen and it has stuck with me as an adult. silly isn't it? but each time i start a sentence in lower case i think of that!!! so i guess it's just a little quirk of mine. ( tho i have started thinking of changing it becuz i don't want people to think i don't know otherwise lol )
did you know if you only read this in an email that you miss out on some great links in my sidebars?! prayer requests that need your attention, special blog parties going on at other blogs that i promote, recipes for cleaners, blogs i find interesting and think you will too, contests, and more! so once in awhile checkout the site itself :)

fluoride dangers
dangers of fluoride in water
fluoride - an offshoot of the atomic bomb and more
dr mercola describes the dangers
Did you know that for years fluoride was classified as a toxic waste in this country
God put saliva in our mouth to cleanse our teeth His natural way. when we create a build up of fluoride the saliva can't reach the teeth so the cleaning God put in place can't do it's job.
did you read the story about the grown man who went in for a dental cleaning and was given a tablespoon of fluoride by accident? he died ! from poisoning! read the back of a tube of toothpaste! why should you need to call poison control? because it's a poison!
i have researched fluoride for years and only started using fluoridated toothpastes in the last year after getting so many tubes free. i am going back to the good stuff tho, after reexamining my conscience and having that long talk with God (remember that a few days ago? )
there is plenty more out there- i only posted enuf to get you started in case you were interested. :) check out google and the bookstores!
here is a recipe for homemade toothpaste you can also use one that is in the marketplace. i like nature's gate and tom's the best. :)

wonderful wednesday

Isa 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
this verse always says to me that God is forging ahead and taking care of business. He knows the future before i do and is preparing the way. :)
answering some qs
-i haven't made the corn chips yet so i can't pass the results along yet
-i was on bozo the clown becuz they taped just a mile from my house and my mother signed me up. at least i think that is how it happened- mom?
-how do i stay organized? lol by being very anal! ~smile~ i keep pen holders in every room to gather the ones that get drug around. i keep a toy box in every room so instead of yelling about the toys in the wrong room i simply put them out of sight in every room they are in. :) lists! i carry a notebook with me always so i know everything always! plus my household binder keeps things for me.

now the dallas newspaper i relied on will not deliver to our tiny area becuz it's not worth it financially for them.
that means no more coupons.
they pulled out for the same reason cvs did. you know cvs- the place i made all my deals and freebies!
GONE. both resources.
soooo God and i had a long talk. He said we needed to get back to our old way of eating. you see, we were vegetarians, almost vegans, for 10 yrs and yet we slipped right back into the sadd diet so easily. i am ashamed of the ways to save money eating out post i wrote a little ways back (i WON'T link you to it ~smile~) how horrible the advice i gave you was!!! yet we had slipped right back into eating that way.

now i have seen it all!

i found this on a website that shall remain anonynomous. A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT TO TELL YOU WHEN TO FEED THE BABY OR CHANGE HER DIAPER?itzbeen Baby Care Timer Review & Giveaway
Posted: 07 Mar 2009 08:50 AM PST
When you bring a new baby home, it’s tough to get into the swing of things, especially if you’re a first time mom or dad. Parents of newborns are often times sleep deprived and it’s next to impossible to keep track of babies schedule. In the midst of figuring it all out, your wondering, how long ago did I change the babies diaper? When did I last feed the baby and if your breastfeeding, on what side did I last feed? When did the baby sleep last and for how long? Would’nt it be nice if a little buzzer when off the next time you needed to complete the next task?
The itzbeen Baby Care Timer has you covered! Itzbeen is a baby care timer that keeps track of all of your baby care needs and even let’s you know the next time you need to change babies diaper or feed, etc. itzbeen Baby Care Timer was created by a mom and a dad, who as new parents, found themselves sleep deprived and having a hard time remembering what was next. Itzbeen not only helps you remember what’s next, but it also helps you to learn your newborn’s rythyms. Which, as you know, is very important when caring for such a delicate new life.
The itzbeen Baby Care Timer is simple, just press a button once after you have changed a diaper, nursed or fed, baby wakes or goes to sleep and there’s even an extra button for any added task you would like to keep track of. Having a hard time remember what side you nursed on last? There’s even a switch for that. This is exactly where my memory failed me and is still failing me to this day. The Itzbeen baby care timer is small and compact and features a clip that you can hook right on to your pocket or diaper bag for portable travel. Itzbeen features a backlight display and a soft-glow nightlight that turns off automatically after seven minutes. What more could you ask for in one tiny product?
itzbeen also features optional alarms with audible beeps to remind you the next time you need to complete a task and the button lock prevents you from accidentally resetting timers. We were able to check out the itzbeen baby care timer first hand and we have to say that this little piece of technology is not only cool but very helpful. I personally, like the compact size in the event that we need to head away from home. The buttons are easy to see and push and the with the helpful backlight you won’t have to stumble out of bed to see how long itzbeen ;) We also found the Itzbeen timer helpful in communicating between my husband and I. Sometimes I fly out the door to get to an appointment, leaving my husband not knowing what I have done and when!
This is a truly a must have little piece of bliss for new parents and we only wished we had this when our girls were newborns. However, we can now use ours to help the babysitter remember what she needs to do next! Just a little extra piece of mind for us and truly helpful to her. I personally think the Itzbeen timer should be part of the "departure" package from the hospital!
The itzbeen Baby Care Timer can be found just about anywhere, including BabiesRus, BabyCenter, One Step Ahead and you can grab one right now at Amazon for only $22.76! The itzbeen timer comes in plenty of fun colors and these would make amazing baby shower gifts, dont you think?

late to the party
all right ladies! i am sorry i am late to the party! (see titus 2 blogparty pic at left) (click and find some great sisters in Christ who joined on time~smile~)
a little about me
i am 44, married to michael and mother to sarah 22, benjamin 15, parker 8,hannah 7,rebekah 5,jamison 3 and andrew 6 months. we have 6 in heaven.
i love to read, blog, write lists, take HOT showers, thrift stores and drink coffee.
i have homeschooled for 16 years now.
i collect quilts, teacups, teapots,and skirts .
my dh and i share a birthday and 3 of our children were all born within a few days of each other , which happens to be the same week dh and i have our bdays!
i am passionate about being a homemaker and a titus 2 lady! even tho i fail daily in my christian walk i still strive to be the woman God has called me to be. i feel that God has called women to be in the home, nuturing their families and taking care of business in the realm of family management. it is not a weak or senseless thing to do! while certain jobs may be momtonous at times isn't every job like that?
my husband and i are equal in every way yet we work in different spheres. we complement each other as God intended.
i am excited to read all the other entries in the blogparty and you should be too. remember to click the button on the left :)
